Foods that will make your skin glow

November 18th, 2011 • Posted by Bianca Cypser • Permalink

Some foods are very good for your skin! The healthier you eat the better your hair, skin, and nails will look. Low fat dairy including yogurt makes the skin glow and is a great source of protein. Yogurt also helps to stimulate fat metabolism and will help to reduce your waistline. Biotin found in yogurt will increase the strength of your nails. Berries such as blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and even plums are high in antioxidants. Antioxidants which help protect skin cells and guard against premature ageing. This keeps the skin looking young and refreshed! Salmon, walnuts, canola oil, and flax seed deliver essential fatty acids that are responsible for healthy cell membranes. Cell membrane hold in moisture for the skin. This is essential for healthy skin. Carrots and sweet potatoes are also very good for the skin. When ingested carrots and sweet potatoes converts to vitamin A which is good for keeping the skin soft and smooth. Kiwi, oranges, and grapefruit are an amazing source of Vitamin C. This stimulates collagen synthesis and protects against wrinkles!!! : ) Believe it or no Dark Chocolate is actually good for you! Dark chocolate provides high levels of cocoa flavanols which is accociated with softer and more hydrated skin. Nuts and seeds such as almonds and sunflower seeds contain anti-imflammatory and immunity-enhancing nutrients including vitamin E which helps reduce skin flare ups.

Mineral Makeup

October 14th, 2011 • Posted by Bianca Cypser • Permalink

Women today are buying mineral makeup now more then ever. At Complexions Day Spa we offer the best mineral makeup you can buy! It's called Jane Iredale AKA "The Skin Care Makeup". In ancient times Cleopatra used ground minerals such as lapas for makeup. She was smart! Mineral makeup is produced using pigments found in the earth instead of synthetic products used in traditional makeup. This type of makeup is made by pulverizing sterilized minerals into a fire powder that is then mixed with natural pigments to produce various shades. Mineral makeup does not support the growth of bacteria meaning it is less likely to become contaminated! Some of the many benefits of mineral makeup are:
*Wont clog your pores because it does not absorb into your skin.
*No allergy risks which means no allergic reactions.
*Up to SPF 30
*Anti-inflammatory; calms and soothes skin. Great for people with acne or rosacea
*Absorbs oil; great for people with oily skin
*Hypoallergenic
*No talc or parabens
*Provides complete coverage with out feeling you have a ton of makeup caked on your face.
*Water resistant
Mineral makeup especialy Jane Iredale makeup is one of the best things you can put on your face and the makeup makes your face flawless! Everyone should switch to mineral makeup!

Brazilian Waxing

October 11th, 2011 • Posted by Bianca Cypser • Permalink

Brazilian waxing was introduced to New York in 1987 by 7 brazilian sisters. Today the brazilian wax is different from a regular bikini wax. What is the difference?? EVERYTHING! No really everything is removed! Our waxing is done in a private relaxing environment so you are completely at ease. Waxing; especialy in the bikini area, is not as likely to leave behind those painful nasty bumps or ingrown hairs. So this is a perfect option for the ladies (or even men)who are daring enough to wear barely there swimwear OR even for other exciting options!!!!!

Benefits of Massage

October 10th, 2011 • Posted by Bianca Cypser • Permalink

Massage Therapy is one of the best alternative therapies around. People tend to think that if they have ANY type of physical pain they need to go and see a Doctor. What does a Doctor do? They hand you a prescription. Which as we all know takes away one problem and creates another down the road. Sometimes the answer to your pain is much more simple! Just try a massage!! After a few sessions with a therapist if you dont feel the least bit better then try a doctor and his advice. "Massage" is French for "friction of kneading". It is defined as "the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and promote relaxation and well being." Massage targets include muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, joints, lymphatic vessels, and other connective tissues. The art of massage, believe it or not, has been around for thousands of years. Massage has been found in many ancient civilizations such as Greece, Rome, Egypt, India, China, Japan, and even Mesopotamia. Today massage is still practiced all over the world. Massage is a big part of eastern medicine. There are many different types of massages. Some of them include swedish, deep tissue, reflexology, lomi lomi, myofascial release, hot stone massage, sports massage, tigger point massage, and neuromuscular massage. All of these types of massages help your body in many different ways. It never hurts to try. :)

Massage for Injuries

September 3rd, 2011 • Posted by Bianca Cypser • Permalink

My name is Whitney and I have been a massage therapist for 4+ years. I have mostly worked in Chiropractic offices working with injuries. Massage is one of the best forms of therapy for muscular injuries. Massage can be beneficial for stress relief, scar tissue buildup, pain, stiffness, auto accident injuries, sports injuries, blood pressure control, and even cancer treatments! Like I said I have worked in a chiropractic office doing medical massage on auto accident patients for about 3 years. I learned a lot over the years! I have seen all types of injuries and have had a 90% sucess rate at helping clients get back to a normal state of well being.
